Overview
NAVIFORUM SHANGHAI 2004 was held at Shanghai Sofitel Jinjiang Oriental Pudong Hotel on Dec. 2nd~3rd 2004.
Organized by High & New Tech. Development & Industrialization Department of Ministry of Science & Technology, and Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, the forum attracted a number of officials from Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, State Bureau of Surveying & Mapping, and Shanghai Municipal Government, and a total of nearly 300 industrial elites from over 100 domestic and foreign enterprises, of which the overseas guests took up 30%.
Via 39 speeches given during forum, guests enjoyed in-depth and comprehensive discussions on some significant problems, covering in-vehicle navigation advancement both in China and overseas, China navigation standards, Galileo satellite navigation, digital navigation maps, new navigation technological application, Ituran positioning technology, navigation and Olympics & World Expo., etc. Active Participation of automobile venders and automotive electronics is a highlight of the forum. Mr. Yinda Chen, Vice President of Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation (Group) gave a speech: The Future of Car Navigation Industry in China, receiving great attention from audience. Speeches by Mr. Hans-Gerd Krekels (Vice President Product & Innovation Management of Infotainment Solutions of Siemens VDO Automotive AG), Mr. Lian Wang, Director of Product and Engineering Department of Shanghai Volkswagen Co., Ltd., Mr. Chao Zhang (Electronic Engineering Manager of Pan Asia Technical Automobile Center), and other representatives were highly praised by guests. Further more, Speeches by Mr. Hans-Gerd Krekels and Mr. Chao Zhang were awarded“Excellent Speech of NaviForum Shanghai 2005”. Finally, the closing speech by Mr. Ao Zhang, Vice Director of Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality and one of Forum Honorary Chairmen, gave the forum a general review, and extended his expectation on development of the forum.
The exhibitors of NAVIFORUM SHANGHAI 2004 cover all links along the navigation industry chain, including car manufacturers, navigation hardware/software, navigation data, wireless carriers, etc., namely, international enterprises like Siemens VDO, Panasonic, Visteon, Nokia, Motorola, prestigious enterprises like Shanghai Auto Industrial Corporation, Dongfeng Nissan, China Mobile, China Satcom, Shinco, etc. The 3 floating navigation application showcases, which were based on the new car models provided by Shanghai Auto Industrial Corporation, one of forum co-organizers, further reflected charms given out by the combination of navigation products and automobile industry. More than 40 Chinese and foreign media companies, oriented at ITS, automobile, IT, communications, finance, and other industries, reported the event, promoting the reputation of the forum.
